What is our History and story. Updated!!@ 2023

It was in 2007 that the dream of the Shalom Namutere Project was conceived. What was an idea was shortly turned into a community intervention for so many people.  I couldn't help to see so many children, not in school. Having grown up in this same community, I hoped for something better than I saw. My hope continued to be frustrated by continuous poverty. The community continued to wait for the government to remember them in vain. It didn't matter what party we elected and supported we were still poor.  Who exactly will bring this change? I prayed and started by collecting pens and pencils from my house and my friends. Aware that education was free, I knew the kids were kept from school from a lack of scholastic material and uniforms. The first term we were able to provide scholastic material and uniforms for over 4o children  This intervention was followed by several terms of scholastic and uniform supply for the community. Even then, we realized that the kids were...

Shalom -Do even Teeth Matter before God!!

Today I was reminded of Markus a 3-year-old then who is our youngest partner. His parents have been giving to the project for a long time, and he wondered how to participate. He then decides to save to promote preventive health through a tooth brush project. The impact runs deep in ensuring our project kids can have body hygiene because they are learning that even their teeth matter to God. There is so much that each of us can do...so much. Marcus is a boy who chose to respond to God's invitation. How is God inviting you, and how are you responding? toothbrush

"Poverty is not only a lack of material resources. Poverty is the absence of Shalom" Myers.

Due to their valueless self-image, poor people are unable to contribute to the development of their communities. It is essential to understand poverty from the distorted relationship between man and God. Sin affects the relationship between God and Man, but it's a web of dysfunctional relationships right there. The impact of fall is evident in the world's economic, political, social, and religious systems. In transformational development, we must seize to treat the spiritual and physical domains of life separately. Our response to poverty as Shalom Namutere Project must be based on truthfulness, righteousness, and justice. It must be holistic. we must see the poor as image-bearers and allow them to participate in bringing the change they love to see. We

Shalom Namutere Project in Advocacy- Because there are systemic strongholds.

Poverty does not happen in isolation. Some of the factors that contribute to poverty are systemic factors. It is easy to respond to the effects of the systemic breakdown, but we must respond to the causes. We do advocacy for the community we serve. For the last few months we have experienced a breakthrough in some projects we have been pushing. Praise, God we have Water and Electricity. For as long as this community has existed they have had one borehole that serves thousands of people. The community has no electricity for as long as it existed. After 4 years of lobbying, we finally have electricity and water drilled at the Shalom community center. Water and electricity are productive resources that the community requires to develop. Our hope is that this will be an excellent opportunity for the community at large. Our mission is to Give opportunities to communities for sustainable development towards a fulfilled living" Shalom/ Peace. Over the years, we have been empowering t...

Shalom with Reproductive Health of Girls in the Community

Every dream even for the girl child is valid- In the first place, it's hard for the girl child to go to school. Most parents see her as an asset that brings an income for the family through marriage rather than spending on them. Fighting this paradigm has been one of our greatest agendas. Sometimes, monthly periods discourage the girl child from being consistent. Last month we requested donations towards sanitary towels, and we are happy to report that out of our 100 girls target, we were able to purchase sanitary towels for 30 girls. We were able to gather them and encourage them and develop their capacity. If you want to give towards this continuous program, contact us  here.  We also are in the second month of the  Shalom care school  and we continue to invite friends to sponsor a child and help us to provide quality education to the Namutere community. Visit us at   Shalom care school  and consider supporting us.

WIDOW CARE- SHALOM NAMUTERE COMMUNITY PROJECT RESPONDS TO WIDOWS IN THE COMMUNITY.

Whats our response? As a project, we are careful not to respond to the effects of poverty but be daily working towards dealing with the causes of poverty. We like to observe economic, political, social, and spiritual systems that contribute significantly to the effects we deal with.   Our first widow's meeting was held as a response to the trauma and pain that we see in the women in the community. We held a meeting with widows at Shalom center on the 19th. March. 2022. The greatest objective of the meeting was to listen to them, appreciate their stories by giving them hope and be able to know how they could be helped and facilitated to thrive. We were able to ask a few questions that happened in different groups with the following in mind. 1 Hearing their Stories, thoughts, how do they feel, what has been the impact on them as a result of losing their husbands 2. How have they been able to cope to date. 3. Who, what can support them, and what resources are available to them ...

THE SHALOM COMMUNITY CHURCH.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL CHURCH IN DEVELOPMENT WORK?  Why a Community church?  The Shalom Community Church- The Shalom Community Church grew homogenously out of a house fellowship led by the Shalom administrator, who is a theologian and missionaries who came to serve the community in 2018. We desire to meet economic, social, and political needs but are incredibly aware of the need to meet the community’s spiritual needs. In the Year 2022, the church was involved in community evangelism and is disciplining several youths, men, Women, and children. The community has gathered and prayed overnight for diverse issues that affect society. Aware that they are invited to the transformation as complete human beings made in His image. They have the confidence to look up to God. "Poverty is basically the absence of shalom in all its meanings." Most time, because of the situations poor people go through, they have a "marred image" or distorted image of who they are a...
